Your children will get a chance to interact with the children from other counties. They can share each other’s views, experiences and cultural practices and that will definitely help them to improve their knowledge and understanding of other cultures, traditions and values.

You can become a host family for a foreign exchange student if you have the potential to provide a separate bed, a place to study, daily meals, and transportation facilities for the exchange student. The student must be treated as a member of the family and should be allowed to take part in household chores and responsibilities. Actually, you can very easily make your home perfect for hosting a foreign exchange student. If your home has an additional spare bedroom, guestroom, or any other unused room or area, such as basement, you can convert that room to a room for the exchange student.

Why do just want to go for a summer? You may not think that you can benefit from just 3 months. Typically the truth is this in class but not in the HS level. In case   you only want to choose three months make sure you see what other programs are available through Rotary or through your school or church.

There was an international exchange student from Russia and he stayed August through April. He really integrated into our house and now we remain close.

I agree using the other poster, in case you limit yourself to merely a summer program, you lose lots of the important things about becoming an exchange student    — mainly the culture and language immersion. If you are just there for your summer, it’s much more of any occasion and never academic experience.There are    many foreign exchange student programs available. Just take action.
